The biggest reason to use Let’s Encrypt is that it made getting an SSL/TLS certificate a no-brainer! Now more sites use SSL than ever before! You can thank Let’s Encrypt for it.

Small businesses and individuals who cannot afford a $$$/year certificate from GoDaddy or whoever else still selling glorified certificate deals.

More and more Internet of Things (IoT) devices are moving towards HTTPS (SSL/TLS) communication and the cost of deploying hundreds of thousands of devices with huge for-profit SSL certificate costs would not allow startup innovation in this space. IOTs need cheap and frequently updatable certs and I think Let’s Encrypt type of efforts are the right ones!

I hope you reconsider your position on Let’s Encrypt.
